Job description:

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to tackle new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

At Google, we care deeply about our iOS users, and we develop for iOS as enthusiastically as we do for Android. We strive to enable users on any platform to access Google products and services — from mainstays like Maps, Search and YouTube to cutting-edge projects like Translate, Photos and Google Now — in the best possible way. And we solve problems at Google's unique scale, bringing large data to small devices and crafting elegant user experiences.

As an iOS Software Engineer, you’ll get to work on products that help millions of people around the world, and collaborate with other passionate mobile developers to bring the most delightful and useful services and apps to life. You will develop applications and SDKs, primarily in Swift, using the iOS SDK for both mobile and tablet users.

Making the world's information universally accessible and useful doesn't stop at the desktop. The Mobile team builds tools to get you the information you need no matter where you are. Android has become the world's most popular mobile ecosystem, powering billions of devices, from smartphones to tablets, watches to TVs and everything in between. Whether adding to the core Android experience, forging new markets for digital content, creating immersive and portable versions of our products or managing relationships with a global community of developers, the Mobile team is giving you Google on the go.

  • Design and implement new user-facing features in Google’s products.
  • Collaborate with designers to create innovative user experiences. Develop prototypes quickly to validate interactions and prove product designs.
  • Optimize applications to maximize speed and scale, factoring in mobile network latency and bandwidth constraints.
  • Write client-side code to create fast, easy-to-use, high volume production applications.
  • Build the libraries and frameworks that support large, complex applications like Gmail, Google Search, and Google Maps.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of relevant work industry experience.
  • Experience in mobile application development.
  • Programming experience in Swift

Preferred qualifications:

  • Considerable programming experience in Objective-C, C++, or Go
  • Deep technical knowledge of iOS mobile application development.
  • Specialist domains: Embedded/device systems, third party libraries for iOS, automated testing frameworks such as KIF and UI automation, mobile optimized websites and mobile web browsers.
  • Knowledge of UI and animation frameworks, MVP application design and complex, and reactive touch-based UI.
  • Strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design optimized for embedded systems.
